Safety Advice

  • Ensure you have read and fully understood the instruction manual and safety advice before using this product.
  • Always inspect the rubber weight plates for any signs of damage, such as cracks, splits, bulging, loose inserts, or excessive wear, before each use; do not use if any damage is detected.
  • Only use these weight plates with equipment that is compatible in size and design, such as barbells, weight machines, or plate storage racks rated for the appropriate weight and dimensions.
  • Do not exceed the safe load capacity of any barbell, machine, or storage rack when adding these weight plates; overloading can result in equipment failure or serious injury.
  • Always secure the weight plates with appropriate collars or safety clips when mounted on a barbell or machine to prevent accidental sliding, shifting, or dislodging during exercise.
  • Lift and handle the plates using proper lifting technique to avoid back, hand, or foot injuries; bend at the knees, keep the back straight, and use both hands.
  • Avoid carrying more than one 20kg plate per hand unless you are trained and confident in doing so safely; use both hands and grip handles (if applicable) whenever possible.
  • Do not drop these weight plates from any height unless they are explicitly rated as bumper plates for repeated impact use; improper dropping can damage the plates, the floor, and create injury risks.
  • Use only on suitable gym flooring designed to absorb impact and protect both the plates and the ground surface; avoid using on hard, uneven, or abrasive surfaces.
  • Keep the training and storage area clear of obstructions and trip hazards, and store weight plates in a designated, stable rack when not in use.
  • Never use the plates for unintended purposes such as steps, supports, or impact tools, as this can result in damage or injury.
  • Always load and unload weight plates evenly from barbells or machines to prevent tipping or imbalance that could cause sudden movement or loss of control.
  • Do not use the weight plates if they are wet, greasy, or slippery, as this can affect grip and increase the risk of dropping or mishandling.
  • Supervise all inexperienced users, including minors, when handling or training with weight plates to ensure proper technique and safe use.
  • Regularly clean the plates to remove sweat, dust, and oils that could degrade the rubber over time or affect grip during use.
  • Avoid exposing rubber plates to direct sunlight, high heat, or freezing temperatures for extended periods, as this can cause cracking, hardening, or other material deterioration.
  • Store rubber weight plates in a cool, dry location, away from open flames, heaters, or high-humidity environments that may degrade the material or metal inserts.
  • Inspect the metal centre inserts for any signs of rust, shifting, or separation from the rubber body; if found, discontinue use and replace the plate.
  • Use appropriate footwear with good grip when handling or lifting plates to reduce the risk of slips, drops, or imbalance.
  • Ensure plates are fully seated on storage racks or weight horns during storage to prevent falling or tipping.
  • Do not attempt to repair or modify damaged weight plates; dispose of them according to local regulations and replace with certified new equipment.

1. Maintenance Advice

  • Inspect the rubber weight plates before and after each use for signs of wear, such as cracks, splits, bulging, loose inserts, or material degradation; discontinue use immediately if damage is found.
  • Wipe the plates after each use with a clean, dry cloth to remove sweat, moisture, and debris that can cause deterioration or create a slipping hazard.
  • Clean the rubber surfaces regularly using a mild pH-neutral soap diluted in water and a soft cloth or sponge; avoid using abrasive scrubbers, bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, or solvents, as these can degrade the rubber.
  • Ensure plates are completely dry before storing to prevent mould, mildew, or material breakdown caused by prolonged moisture exposure.
  • Store rubber weight plates in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment away from direct sunlight, heaters, or high-temperature areas, as heat and UV light can cause cracking, fading, or hardening of the rubber.
  • Do not leave rubber plates exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including rain or freezing temperatures, as these can accelerate material fatigue and cause delamination or brittleness.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with petroleum-based products (e.g., oils, lubricants, or chemicals) which may stain, soften, or weaken the rubber.
  • Place rubber plates on smooth, clean, non-abrasive flooring or designated gym mats during use or storage to minimise unnecessary friction and preserve surface condition.
  • Store plates vertically on a dedicated weight plate rack or horizontally in stacks no higher than recommended by the manufacturer to prevent deformation or pressure damage.
  • If the plates include steel or metal inserts, check regularly for signs of rust, separation, or movement; avoid moisture exposure and lubricate lightly with a rust inhibitor if necessary, taking care to avoid contact with rubber surfaces.
  • Rotate use across all plates in a set to promote even wear and extend the lifespan of each unit.
  • Avoid dropping rubber plates unless they are specifically rated as bumper plates for impact use; misuse can damage both the plate and the training surface.
  • If plates become tacky or sticky to the touch, clean with mild soap and water, then rinse and dry thoroughly; persistent stickiness may indicate material breakdown and require replacement.
  • Do not attempt to cut, trim, glue, or otherwise modify the rubber surface or structure of the plates.
  • For commercial environments, implement a routine inspection and cleaning schedule, recording the condition of all rubber weight plates to ensure compliance with facility safety standards.
